About
Efram Potelle is a writer and director based in Los Angeles. His science-fiction short Endangered is currently on the festival circuit, with official selections including Sitges and Screamfest.
Feature directing
In 2003 he won HBO's Project Greenlight national directing competition, announced at Sundance. The resulting Miramax feature, The Battle of Shaker Heights, starred Shia LaBeouf, Amy Smart, Kathleen Quinlan, William Sadler, and Ray Wise. He co-directed and edited the film.
Visual effects and production
Since then, he has worked in film and television as a visual-effects supervisor, CG supervisor, editor, and artist. His creature work on Infestation earned a Visual Effects Society Award nomination. CG supervision credits include Marvel's Ms. Marvel, Henry Selick's Wendell & Wild, Slumberland, and Sesame Street. He also contributed visual effects to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Wonder Woman.
Earlier films
He began making films in Fairfield, Maine, and won his first festival award at thirteen. In his twenties he founded Newborn Pictures and produced independent shorts and features. Pennyweight played more than twenty festivals and took six awards, among them Best Narrative Short at the Atlanta Film Festival and Best Short Subject at the Nashville Independent Film Festival. They Came to Attack Us, made for fifty dollars, won the Global Anarchy Audience Award at Slamdance, and the web series Hellholes won a Webby Award.
He is currently developing original feature projects while Endangered continues its festival run.
