IMG_5157.jpg Efram Potelle is a writer, director, visual effects supervisor, CG artist, and illustrator whose work moves between independent film, studio production, and original genre storytelling.
He started making films as a kid in Fairfield, Maine, and won his first student film festival award at thirteen. In his twenties, he built Newborn Pictures as a home for his independent work, creating shorts and features that won Grand Prize at Slamdance, Best of Festival at Nashville, and found a wide audience online in the early days of web video.
In 2003, Efram won HBO's Project Greenlight national directing competition at Sundance. The resulting Miramax feature, The Battle of Shaker Heights, starred Shia LaBeouf, Amy Smart, and Elden Henson.
His career in visual effects has given him a practical, hands-on understanding of how ambitious ideas are built for the screen. As a VFX supervisor, CG lead, and artist, he has worked across film, television, animation, and commercial projects. His creature work on Infestation earned a VES Award nomination, and his CG supervision credits include Marvel's Ms. Marvel, Netflix's Slumberland, Henry Selick's Wendell & Wild, and Sesame Street.
His original sci-fi short Endangered is currently on the festival circuit, with selections including Screamfest Horror Film Festival, Alpine International Film Festival, and London Vision Film Festival.
He is currently developing a slate of original projects for film, television, and publishing, with a focus on high-concept genre stories grounded in character, humor, and emotional stakes.
